When's the Park open?

We are open 365 days a year, from dawn until dusk. Carmarthenshire Museum is closed until Spring 2022.

Is it free?

Entry and parking are free.

What's the address?

Our address is: Bishop’s Park and Gardens, Abergwili, Carmarthenshire SA31 2JG Click here for Directions on Google Maps.

What's happening at the moment?

We have no cafe or toilets at present - until the conversion of the Bishop's former outbuildings are complete, in Spring 2022.  Read more about the restoration of the Park.

What can I see and do?

Bishop's Park has over 800 years of history, horticulture and wildlife - with formal pollinator-friendly gardens, mature trees, wildlife-rich woodland, a SSSi oxbow lake (the Bishop's Pond) and great flood-plain meadow to discover.

What's here for families?

Families are welcome!  Stop by the cafe (opening Spring 2022) or bring a picnic and have a run around.  In the Woodland Garden we have a giant beech log to balance on and scramble ropes to rest your climbing skills.  Spot wildlife including swans, coots and ducks on Bishops Pond.  If you're lucky you might spot a kingfisher or an otter!

There is plenty of space here for children to enjoy and lots of lovely new benches to pause for snacks and take in views of the Tywi Valley.  Accessible toilets coming soon.

Download family trails and activities here or pick up a copy in the visitor centre.

And Dogs?

Well behaved dogs on leads are welcomed too.  Please ensure you pick up and bag your dog waste and dispose of it in the bins provided.

What's On in the Park ?

We have a lively programme of events, courses and workshops  -  from children's art workshops to horti courses, to our revived Bishop's Park Show.  Find out What's On at the moment.

What's open and bookable?

The Park is open during daylight hours, and we have a cafe (opening Spring 2022) and learning centre housed in the Bishop's old outbuildings - pantry, brewhouse and laundry. We also hold regular tours of the site including the 18th century walled garden, which is not normally open to visitors - contact us to find out more if no tours are listed.

Can I bring a group or start a club in the Park?

We welcome groups and can offer private tours and talks, and we'd love some volunteers to set up regular clubs.  Contact us to find out more.

How can I get involved?

As a tiny charity we could not continue our work conserving and maintaining the Park without a team of committed volunteers - so we really need your help. Find out how you can Support our Work.
