Members of Abergwili Community Council recently presented a cheque to the Carmarthenshire Branch of the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust in support of the work of the Trust’s Tywi Gateway Project. The Bishop’s Park is much loved and used by the people of Abergwili and the generous donation of the Abergwili Community Council recognises the importance of maintaining and developing this wonderful resource for the continued future benefit of both the local community and visitors to the area alike.
On behalf of Abergwili Community Council ‘Councillor Dorian Morgan, Chairman said “Abergwili Community Council is most pleased to be associated with this most worthwhile project which will help restore local heritage for the pleasure of future generations”.
Judith Holland speaking on behalf of the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust said ‘we are extremely grateful for the support and enthusiasm for the project shown by Abergwili Community Council. It is through the support and involvement of the local community and its representatives that the Tywi Gateway Project will succeed in ensuring the future of the environmentally and historically important Bishop’s Park as a wonderful amenity for all’.
Present at the ceremony were Councilor Andrew Hesford, the Council’s representative on the Tywi Gateway Project, Councillor Dorian Morgan, Chairman Abergwili Community Council, Judith Holland from the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust, County Councilor Pam Palmer and Elfyn Williams, Abergwili Community Council.
